Sabrina Johnson

Sabrina is a native Californian; she lived in the San Fernando Valley up until 2022 when she moved to Prescott, Arizona. She was raised in the New Thought faith tradition of Unity, and is a member of Centers for Spiritual Living (“CSL”) (formerly known as Church of Religious Science). In 2009, she graduated from a three-year accredited CSL program to become a licensed Practitioner (“RScP”) (i.e., lay leader/teacher/ counselor).

In 2008, Sabrina was introduced to the ancient art of Vipassana meditation (aka insight or mindfulness meditation). She then studied Mindfulness Self Compassion, as developed by Christopher K. Germer, PhD and Kristin Neff, PhD. She found incorporating both of these teachings into a daily practice to be life changing. Because of this, Sabrina has a desire to share with others what has evolved into a practice of “compassionate meditation.”

To further her spiritual exploration and education, Sabrina enrolled in Claremont School of Theology’s Master of Divinity Program and graduated in 2021.

Besides teaching compassionate meditation classes at various venues such as gyms, bookstores, and churches, she has also written a book, How to Sit & Stay with Compassionate Meditation. From these classes, Sabrina developed a new way to present and facilitate meditation in a more personal setting with “Meditation Salons.” These are small group gatherings held in a private home with meditation sits and contemplative sharing in between, finishing with a salon-style discussion while enjoying a light meal; it is a mini-retreat for everyone, whether they have never meditated or have a daily practice.

Sabrina also enjoys creating and facilitating workshops and classes that vary in subject – from using fictional literary characters as archetypes, to open-heartedly welcoming diversity with the understanding that we are all the Divine’s beloved. The intention of all these learning experiences is to offer the time and space for the individual to go within and explore the wonderous galaxies we each have inside of us. With this new information we can become more consciously aware of how we can choose to engage with others – as well as ourselves – in a way that realizes the gift we are given of being interconnected. This is the foundation of Sabrina’s work: the invitation to “Listen Up Listen In,” whether it be tuning into her podcast (of the same name), giving a talk, creating and leading a contemplative meditation service or an earth day ceremony, putting on a spiritual retreat, or in a one-on-one counseling session with a client.

Sabrina continues to expand and develop her “Listen Up Listen In” mission so that it grows from being a podcast into a community where people gather to share their spiritual path and learnings, as they listen up to what is shared by others and listen in to the inner wisdom of their heart… letting the heart lead the way.
